Josef Kirchengast
Josef Kirchengast, born in 1951, is a journalist and Vulkanland farmer. After high school and studying in Graz, he started working for the “Südost-Tagespost”. In 1988 he was one of the founders of the Styrian magazine “Klipp”. In the same year he moved to Vienna and was part of the founding team of the “Standard”, where he was editor for 27 years. When he retired, he moved to his father's hometown, Mühldorf near Feldbach, and runs a cultural and culinary meeting place with his wife.

Stephan grows up on a large farm with an attached inn. His mother died giving birth to him. The grandmother is the mistress of the house, a strict woman with rigid methods of upbringing. While working on the farm, Stephan makes a disturbing acquaintance with the vinegar mother. After a moment of shock, she conveys to him the feminine essence and determines his relationship with the many women he meets for the rest of his life.
